One of the Largest Health Systems in the U.S. Expands Engagement with CynergisTek to Bolster Security and Privacy Programs, Supplement On-Site Security Teams

Austin, TX, July 11, 2018 — CynergisTek, (NYSE AMERICAN: CTEK), a leader in healthcare cybersecurity and information management, today announced that one of the largest health systems in the U.S. has selected to expand its agreement with CynergisTek for Professional Services. Under the terms of the multi-million dollar contract, CynergisTek will place additional security resources in the health system to augment the organization’s existing security team, helping to overcome the security personnel shortage facing the healthcare industry.

As the global cybersecurity workforce deficit is estimated to reach 1.8 million individuals by 2022, CynergisTek is seeing an increasing demand for its Professional Services offering, which helps healthcare organizations overcome this staffing challenge. In this new engagement, CynergisTek will provide full-time, credentialed and experienced security professionals to provide onsite and remote support at nearly 30 of the health system’s locations.

The large, multi-site health system turned to CynergisTek as it looked to design and implement security programs for biomedical and endpoint devices, such as computers, printers and other network-connected devices. Specifically, the health system expanded its relationship with CynergisTek to assist the organization’s efforts to implement the Cisco Identity Services Engine solution, which streamlines security functions like threat and vulnerability detection, and other network security efforts. CynergisTek will also conduct business associate security reviews to enhance the organization’s overall privacy program.

“We continue to see healthcare organizations of all sizes struggle to recruit and retain talented cybersecurity professionals, which are critical for addressing the evolving threat landscape,” said Mac McMillan, CEO and President, CynergisTek. “This new expanded engagement, which is the largest in CynergisTek history, is a testament to a successful prior relationship with this health system. It also demonstrates the growing demand for security experts to help manage comprehensive security initiatives that address all potential threats and vulnerabilities, including those associated with network-connected devices.”

CynergisTek’s Professional Services offering provides organizations with qualified staff and expertise for short and long-term staffing, program remediation, program development and technology implementation projects, and also includes the Virtual CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) and Virtual Privacy Officer programs. As the worldwide demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to outpace the growth of the talent pool, healthcare entities working with CynergisTek can access support from experts with extensive experience operating security and privacy programs at healthcare organizations nationwide to supplement existing resources in a customizable, cost-effective manner.
